On getting a job or just doing your own thing

There is no relation between this pic and this post.

Most people tend to tell me I'm in good future whenever they find out I have no job but is already managing my own businesses. At first, I felt good about it. I feel proud. Just around two years after graduating from a university, I slowly got interested in studying more of business while working on my first job. I went under the  more usual phase: started off reading Kiyosaki books, playing Cashflow, joining an MLM organization, among others. Then things started to get serious; sleepless nights filling up calendars as I plan things I would like to do. Luckily, I found friends who also would love to try bigger things in the world of business with me. Although I was sent by my company to other countries to work at that time, the sense of doing business was already imbued within me. It was part-time work, part-time nurturing ideas during my whole stay abroad. After almost four years in my first job, I gracefully exited from it, and proceeded to work on the ideas intensely brewing in my head. And now, here I am, being my own boss and pulling off my hair on every decision-making episode. People will try to tell me that they want to start their business too, but they don't have any idea yet. But is doing business really for everyone? Is it really the achievement everyone should be rooting for?

Of course, the answer will be "maybe."

No one can tell a person if their future is better with a job until retirement, or handling their own business and be the lord of their own time. Sources of information through magazines and media are always telling people to quit their jobs and start their own businesses instead. That kind of mentality is wrong. When I was in the multi-level networking scene, that's what we were proposing (forcing everyone to do, ok) to all the people. Or how we were taught by our uplines to tell others. At first it made sense, and really practical for this generation. Who doesn't want to be in control of their own fate? The offer was good, but still, the scheme was a scam. (Ohritey there, no more revelations regarding MLM starting this sentence.) Anyway, handling work in a job or a business is basically the same. There are benefits all around. What's important is, you're doing something that fits your lifestyle.

In a job, you have security for a given time, you can do things repetitively, you have free coffee, and stuff like that. You can be a corporate zombie if you allow it, but try to enjoy holidays as much as possible. Not happy about it? Resign and find another. Don't let the looming horrors of unemployment ruin your crusade of finding the job you see is perfect for you. Try freelancing when not yet accepted in a company to work in. Man, you're connected to the Internet. There are millions of freelancing jobs present around.

Business, on the other hand, is identified as a path to take for the people who have the guts to do their own thing, whatever the outcomes will be. Those people who are disciplined enough to manage their own time and work. This is for the people who think they don't have a boss to answer to, wherein in actuality, all clients from heaven or hell will be your bosses. Bosses, lots of 'em. More pros, more cons. Your responsibility will just get bigger. If you're up for it, by all means go for it.

The point is, whatever you choose, that will totally depend on you. If you get frustrated in what you do, then you'll be frustrated your whole life. To accept what is offered to you, you must change yourself first and know how to deal with cases like these. A job is no different than doing the other type, and vice versa. You must feel within yourself what you want to do. Or you can always try doing one first, then try another, and then balance it out on which category will you perfectly fit in.

The future is uncertain, so why would you give yourself a problem by focusing more on it? You live by the present, and whatever you do in the present will affect the days ahead. Choose something worth doing, something you think you can still breath in, something that holds the happiness you are looking for yourself.
